The Miyar valley is famous for its wildflower meadows and pristine alpine pastures. It is also famous for its tall granite towers comparable to the Yosemite valley in America. Over the years the Miyar valley has attracted many alpinists and rock climbers from all over the world to climb its many amazing rocks towers. Over the next 10 days we will cross beautiful Alpine Meadows, some small emerald green alpine lakes, a large glacier to eventually reach the Kangla pass at 5500m and then descend into the Zanskar valley. Our exit point for this trek is at a famous 17th century buddhist monastery called Bardan Gompa along the banks of the Lungnak Chu. The Zanskar Valley is a mystical land entranced deep into esoteric practises and eastern mysticism. Many different sects of Buddhism has flourished in the Zanskar valley since the 8th Century. There is a lot of history, culture dating all the way back to the Bronze age that you can discover here. There are many amazing monasteries here that continue to follow its old traditions and coexist with other religions. Zanskar is a part of the Kargil District in the region of Ladakh. Padum is the largest town of the Valley. Padum is 12 Kms from Bardun where we will end our trek. We will spend a night at Padum when we end of our trek. You can extend your trip and do a 2-4 days Zanskar cultural safari with us where you explore some of the old monasteries like Phugtal, Karsha etc, discover 2000 year old petroglyphs and also experience some local culture along the way.
