The Kalihani Pass trek in the Kullu valley takes you to the upper reaches of the Pir Panjal range. We start the trek near the famous Hadimba temple in Manali and make our way high above the town through old growth Cedar, Spruce and Oak forests to reach Manali's expansive meadows. We walk through many seasonal shepherd camps as they make their way through the lush meadows moving higher as the summer progresses. Early in the season, one can have the unique experience of being on top of the Kalihani Pass along with herds of sheep and goat as they make their way through the pass and into the Kangra and Chamba valleys. The Kalihani Pass trek is a pathway to the remote and ancient Bara Bhangal village - uniquely situated at the intersection of the Kullu, Kangra and Chamba valleys. The Bara Bhangal village is a further two day walk away from the Kalihani pass and makes for a good traverse trek As we gain altitude on this trek, we get excellent views of Indrasan, Deo Tibba, Inderkila and Rohtang Pass close by and the many peaks of the Bara Shigri glacier further in the distance.
